Through years of use, Abington Friends School’s Soccer Field had developed a number of low and high spots across the field that were affecting safety, slowing drainage, and causing turf quality to decline with each use.
The school turned to Shearon to analyze the underlying issues with the field and devise a plan to improve the playability of the field. Shearon developed and implemented a plan to regrade the field to a consistent, smooth grade, add a drainage system to ensure playable conditions, and install a modern irrigation system while solving issues on an adjoining baseball field that shared space with the soccer field.
As a result of the renovation, the field is utilized more than before the reconstruction, but due to improved grading, drainage, and the introduction of irrigation, the field recovers quickly after heavy use.
