Design, Planting and Irrigation

Shearon Environmental Design maintained a 25-year relationship with Philadelphia University at its East Falls campus.  When Thomas Jefferson University merged with Philadelphia University, Jefferson brought Shearon on to maintain and improve both the university and hospital facilities.

One of the first projects Shearon undertook was landscape renovations at two important Center City Philadelphia buildings, Alumni Hall & Martin Hall.  The landscapes at these buildings had declined due to the difficult urban conditions and poor maintenance techniques.  Shearon proposed to replace the failing and overgrown plant material with shrubs, perennials, and groundcovers that were more suited to the urban environment while still maintaining the original design concepts intact.  The final scope of work included soil modification, irrigation, planting, and annual flower installations at high-impact locations.  The result was a greener campus that is easier to maintain and more attractive to students, staff, and patients.
