Shearon Golf worked closely with the developer’s engineer and land planners to develop a master plan that minimized holes with views of housing, eliminating the tunnel effect of housing on each side of a hole, maximized the available views from lots, captured stormwater for irrigation and kept a premium on safety.
Like the great golf courses built in the early part of the 20th Century in Philadelphia, Raven’s Claw is strategically laid out over a plethora of natural features including ravines, wetlands, streams, rock outcroppings, woodlands, and meadows increasing both the variety and beauty of the course while reducing construction costs.
Because Shearon Golf also built the course, the turnaround from the design phase to construction was very short. Shearon’s expert shapers and managers efficiently crafted the course in less than 18 months, saving construction costs and allowing the course to open ahead of schedule.
Shearon aggressively grew in the course and has nurtured the course to become one of the best manicured courses in the area, increasing play each year since opening. Today Raven’s Claw has hosted the Montgomery County Amateur, the Valley Forge Invitation on the Symetra Tour and has garnered numerous awards including being selected in the top ten in the state each year of operation.
